Considered by many to be one of the highlights of the camps, mealtimes are great social occasions. Fresh, natural macrobiotic foods, imaginatively prepared and served throughout the week at breakfast, lunch and dinner with endless conversation around wellbeing. Our vegan menu comprises of macrobiotic quality whole foods, organic where possible, and are suitable for both vegans and vegetarians. We have two separate menus to cater for different tastes at the festival. You dont have to stick to just one menu either, each meal time you can choose and change depending on how you feel at the time. We can also cater for people with specific dietary needs whether its gluten, nuts, dairy etc. Have a look at a typical day menu.
The One World Summer Festival started life as a macrobiotic festival over 2 decades ago and is still a philosophy we like to share. Although One World has grown to more than just a macrobiotic festival we believe it can benefit anyone looking for a healthier lifestyle. Macrobiotics which means “big life” and is more a way of life than just a dietary definition. A macrobiotic diet is not by definition vegan, nor is it even vegetarian.
However, it is certainly true that the macrobiotic diet involves eating grains as a staple food, supplemented with other foods such as local vegetables, and avoiding the use of highly processed or refined foods and most animal products. Almost all meals that would normally enter a “macrobiotic diet” are also suitable for vegans, and as such for vegetarians. But not everything.
